#RightTheWrong – Compensation Now!
When people are freed after losing years – maybe decades – of their lives through no fault of their own, what should happen? Should they get help with housing, food, counseling, medical care, a job? How about some kind of financial compensation for the stolen years? Thirty-one states provide some level of compensation for those who fall victim to wrongful convictions.
Pennsylvania is not one of them.
We want to change that.
Through our #RightTheWrong campaign, our goal is to ensure fair compensation for those whose lives were shattered by being convicted of crimes they did not commit, and having their freedom taken from them.
We could never accomplish this without you. There are so many ways for you to help change this unjust situation:
- Take to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and spread the word it is time for Pennsylvania to #RightTheWrong!
- Go to our Legislative Action Center where you can send an email or tweet directly to your Pennsylvania legislators asking them to support compensation laws
- Take part in our Wrongful Conviction Day of Action by setting up a Wall for Innocence with your student or religious group, community organization, or friends.
- Get everything you need – handouts, pledge cards, information about compensation – in our Complete Wrongful Conviction Day Toolkit.
